Veteran Grown

River Birch Farm is proud to be a Homegrown by Heroes certified farm.  Our farmer veteran, Matt, served his country for eight years and was deployed with Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. Today, he is striving to serve his country by producing wholesome, sustainable food for his local community.  

​The Homegrown By Heroes label is a key differentiator for farmer veteran products in competitive markets. The HBH label gives farmer veterans the point-of-sale visibility they need to be successful in the marketplace. The HBH label also affords consumers a tangible way to support veterans while providing an avenue to share the veteran’s story.

The Homegrown by Heroes label is certified by the Farmer Veteran Coalition, a national non-profit dedicated to mobilizing veterans to feed America.  From the FVC website, "We cultivate a new generation of farmers and food leaders, and develop viable employment and meaningful careers through the collaboration of the farming and military communities. We believe that veterans possess the unique skills and character needed to strengthen rural communities and create sustainable food systems. We believe that agriculture offers purpose, opportunity, and physical and psychological benefits."
